Theme is Trapezoid

Theme is Trapezoid is an electronic music project led by Jason Page, formed in the mid-2000s. It produces chiptune-inspired music, blending retro 8-bit sounds with modern electronic elements. The project has operated both as Page’s solo work and as a collaborative effort with other musicians, banding together for live performances and various projects. Their debut album, The Theme Is Trapezoid (2006), features nine tracks, including "Pop Title Trapezoid" and "Trapezoid," characterized by synth-driven melodies and lo-fi aesthetics. An upcoming collaborative album, Computational Irrationality, explores the use of irrational numbers in music, incorporating improvised responses from musicians.

An offshoot project, The Torque Monks, emerged in the 2010s, also led by Jason Page. Active during that half-decade, it introduced the genre aleatoravox and operates primarily as an aleatoric noise vocal group. Their final album Behold a Pale Mark (2012) showcases experimental elements, including tracks like "Ducks Resserrect" and "Chasing Ghostly Tails."
